Installation Instructions for PiOPCServer

Part I.

1. Please create a folder PiOPCServer on your drive e.g. C:\PiOPCServer or in a drive convenient for you.

2. Extract all the files from the zip into this folder.

3. From this folder, right click PiOPCServ.exe and select Run as administrator.

4. A dialog will be shown with an ID number. Please copy it to clipboard (CTRL+C). and send to info@picontrolsolutions.com.

PiControl will email you unlock code.

5. Exit and close PiOPCServer program.

Part II.

Following procedure needs to be done after you receive unlock code from PiControl.

Now you need to register PiOPCServer on your PC/Laptop.

PiOPCServer registration

1. Please go to windows Command Prompt

Start-->All Programs-->Accessories-->Command Prompt

2. Right click Command Prompt icon and select Run as administrator to start command prompt.

In Command Prompt window, type the following. (Please replace the first part by the correct path for PiOPCServer on your computer.)

"C:\PiOPCServer\PiOPCServ.exe" –regserver

Note that the Path is enclosed in quotes and then a single space and then –regserver

If you have created PiOPCServer folder in Documents folder like below, in Command Prompt Window, type following and press enter. CD is for change directory command.

CD C:\Users\Owner16\Documents\Mainx\PiOPCServer

3. Now in Command Prompt window you will see current directory like below.

C:\Users\Owner16\Documents\Mainx\PiOPCServer>

4. At the command prompt type PiOPCServ.exe -regserver and press enter key.

C:\Users\Owner16\Documents\Mainx\PiOPCServer>PiOPCServ.exe -regserver

Now PiOPCServer is registered. This procedure needs to be done only once.

This completes PiOPCServer installation.

Now you can start any OPC Explorer like MatrikonOPC Explorer (https://www.matrikonopc.com/downloads/176/software/index.aspx) or any other OPC Explorer you may have and connect to PiOPCServer.

Once you connect from OPC Explorer, PiOPCServer should start automatically. Open a case file in PiOPCServer.

You can add and browse tags in your OPC Client.
